Radiation Day 10

Our day was off to a rough start. The last two Monday he's been very emotional about not being able to eat, but today he was spit fire mad. Stomping around arms folding. It of course breaks your heart, him being so upset, but it was kinda cute, watching my chubby Atticus stomping around. Poor guy did NOT want to be accessed this morning. He was crying before we even walked in asking, "Am I going to get the yellow poke?" The needle has a yellow "house" to make sure the needle doesn't go too far in. It scares him so much. He sits on Eric's lap while holding my hands. We try to get him to look away but he never does. He always watches. After radiation while waking up we noticed he had the radiation mask imprints on his face. He's gotten so chubby! We were concerned that he may need a new mask. We talked to Dr. Munoz. At this point he does not need a new mask. The hope is, that as we decrease his Decodron his "chubbiness" will thin out. Obviously if it gets too tight they will make a new one but it would be a huge pain, it would basically require a whole "new game plan" is what Dr. Munoz said, so we'll hope for the chubbers to go down a bit. "Accessed" day is a hard day. He cried all morning long. Thankfully my sister Jenny flew in today. We were all SO excited to see her. Atticus ADORES her. It was a great distraction. Once we got food in his tummy, got Jenny in the car; He was happy as a clam. The rest of the day was GREAT! Jenny told Atticus that if he could count the money in her wallet he could keep it! We all know how Atticus feels about money! She even let him keep her $5 bill. He was SO excited. And yes Jenny totally spoils my children. Atticus took the $5 to show daddy and said Aunty Jen gave him a dollar so he could buy a racer. Eric informed him that he not one but FIVE racers. Atticus went ballistic. He was SOOO excited. Whoohoo-ing and smiling ear to ear. After our Target run.. he kept saying, "It was sure fun picking out five racers!" Today we noticed that his hair is thinning. Especially around his ears. The back of his hair looks singed. Once the skin starts showing is when we will start applying the Radia Gel. We are already applying it to his ears twice a day. He's a trooper. We are so proud of him. Love, Cindy

You don't know me. I found your blog through Roseanne Jones. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that your family has to go through this. I recently lost a child and I am still completely heart broken. But our family has felt joy at the most unexpected times. I fasted for your son and I will continue to do so. Our prayers are with your family.
