Time with Tiff...

The Huish  family (click HERE) has been a huge support for our family. There sweet Angel Sadie was diagnosed with DIPG March 3, 2008 and returned to Heaven June 25, 2009. It is amazing how close we have become to "Strangers that are now friends." Tiff lives in Utah and we, obviously live in Texas and had never met until word got out that Atticus was diagnosed with DIPG. Heavenly Father put Tiff in my life and what a blessing it has been. I cannot tell you how many times I called her in tears and each time she would lift me up and give me the moral support I needed to carry on with Atticus' battle. for 4 1/2 months we talked via facebook text and phone calls but the first time we actually met was at Atticus' viewing. She flew all the way from Utah to support us. I remember practically falling in her arms when I saw her. It was such a comfort. And even though Atticus' had passed away, I was anxious for her to "meet" him and the rest of my family. She is truly an incredible woman with a huge heart and a giant testimony.

Tiff's husband Zach had a work conference in San Antonio Texas Wednesday through Saturday. When I heard that, I basically invited myself down to keep her company while he was at meetings! Thanks to my amazing husband and amazing friends, I got everything worked out for a very last minute quick trip down to San Antonio. I dropped Isaac off to Jocelyn Wednesday morning and was on the road by 8:40am.

The drive went great. I drove in silence for the first while. But then my mind started to wonder in not so happy places and I ended up in tears so, who do I call when I need a good laugh? Stacie!! We talked for over and hour. She seriously cracks me up. Then I turned on some tunes and sang my heart out. I got to San Antonio a little after 1pm. While waiting for Tiff to get in, I checked in to my hotel, and walked along the river walk, just 1/2 a block away.

My sweet hubby got me a nice hotel!
Thank you priceline!

The River Walk

I ate lunch at Subway and got Cheetos in honor of my Atticus!

As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we are asked to follow the Word of Wisdom. Of which includes no consumption of alcohol. Tiff and I have this running joke that when we are having a hard "Miss our Angels" day, we test each other that it's  "Corona" day. Jokingly of course, cause we don't drink. Why Corona you ask? Because on every Corona commercial they are at the beach relaxed having fun and soaking in the sun. Something we would much rather be doing than whatever challenge we are currently in! SO.... I decided to bring Tiff and I the "Mormon version of Corona."

Aren't I a nerd!!
Tiff and I met up at 3pm and talked and cried and talked and cried for hours. Then I got to meet Zach, Tiff's husband for the first time. Amazing guy. Then the three of us went out to dinner. A yummy steakhouse of course. And the Huishs' against my wishes bought my meal-- thank you again! As I think of our dinner conversation and if someone had over heard our conversation, they would probably think, "What the heck are these people talking about? How sad and horrible." But for us families that have lost children to such a monster, it is a comfort to be able to talk to loved ones who truly understand. Who truly know what a bad day is like. Who truly know what its like to miss someone so much you want to throw up and your heart about jumps out of your chest. Families who understand that talking about our sweet angels does our hearts good, even if it brings tears. It was really interesting to hear Zach's perspective on things. Daddy's of these cancer fighting kiddo's are one of a kind. Truly. They are incredible men.
Dinner

"Texas Wildflower Pedicure"

We both felt a little out of place at this fancy smansy place (JW Marriott Convention Center) and laughed as we thought, "the staff can totally tell that we are not frequenters!"

 We had a great time!

I got BLUE toes for Atticus
Tiff got RED toes for Sadie
It is always amazing and humbling to be with Tiff. I learn so much from her. Spending such a short time with her lifted my spirits and was totally worth the drive!

THANK YOU for letting me crash the party Tiff! Love you.
THANK YOU Eric, Jocelyn, Jene, and Leah for keeping Isaac.

We LOVE YOU Atticus and Sadie. Your mommies spent many hours bragging about how incredible you are and how proud of you we are. We can't wait to be together again!!

Our happy, healthy Sadie!

Auntie Jen came for a quick fun/business trip.
Isaac has her wrapped around his finger!

Marbles...
He always seems to find a new use for things...
Obviously the marbles had to be put away!

Bread Maker in the making.
It is really hard to capture a true smile of Isaac.
But so worth it when you do!!

He got a "trampoline" for his birthday from me and Eric.
And he not only bounces but gets cozy!

Time for some serious racing!

I just love you! I'm going to take a 6 pack of real coronas and label them as cream soda for you and Tiff for your next get together!!! I'm so glad you were able to meet up with her! She truly is an amazing lady and I am so glad you have someone who truly understands what you have been and are going through.
And I'm so glad you called me to chat. I don't have a lot of talents, but I have pretty much mastered the art of conversation :).
I'm very jealous that Jen got to come see you guys. Her and her big fancy career! But I'm glad you guys had fun. I LOVE that Isaac put marbles in his ear...they almost looked like earings!
Man, I miss you guys! See you in 3 weeks! On my special day! Don't forget my present!!!
Love, Stacie

I LOVE having Isaac over. I can never get enough of that sweet boy. He has so many of us wrapped around his little chubby finger. MY girls cry when its time for him to go. He is welcome any time, day or night. I am so grateful you have friends like Tiff that can help you in ways I can't. I am so grateful she is in your life. Love you to pieces. Yay for your trip. xoxo

Oh my goodness, you ladies have beautiful children! I wonder if you can have an arranged marriage? I'm glad that you have each other, but not glad of the circumstances that brought you together. Giving thoughts of peace and comfort from Louisiana!

So glad you had such a wonderful time with Tiff! Such an unusual bond that you wish you didn't have in common, but how much lighter the burden is to carry when someone shares it with you! San Antonio was perfect fun for you "wild" ladies and your Coronas! :)
