Surviving.

Because of him.

We have Atticus' room back done perfectly, if I do say so myself. I'll post pictures about Mr. Atticus later. When I'm stronger. Anyway... Isaac is constantly going in Atticus' room, sits right where he's sitting and plays with Atticus' BYU pinewood derby car, gets out his "game ball" then goes to his closet door, which has pictures of ALL of us and our extended family and ooh's and ahh's.

He seriously is so stinkin' cute...

I'm not sure what it is about the kitchen sink, but BOTH my boys love/loved to take "baths" in it! This pictures was taken in May and it was super hot so chunk had some rosey cheeks!

Isaac has a MAJOR shoe and sock obsession. He LOVES all his shoes but especially loves his cowboy boots. It is so funny to watch him walk around. He's a pro now, but when this pic was taken, also in May, he was walking like a drunken sailor!

Wearing Auntie Leah's rain boots...

Those who know Isaac know he's a dancer and loves to get his groove on. He is "raisin' the roof!"

Nothin' cuter than a chubber in a speedo!!
Compliments of Auntie Stacie!! I seriously had to squeeze him in!

Another obsession of Mr. Isaac is food. This boys loves him some grubb!
He was trying to get a Popsicle!

Checking out the goods! I love his chubby cheeks in this one.

We have to keep the pantry door closed. If we don't, Isaac comes out with something like THIS. While at Target early May Atticus asked for Cheeto puffs, and lets be honest, at that point, the kid got whatever he wanted. SO... Isaac is reaping the rewards....

And thoroughly enjoying it!!!

He's gotten big huh?!

Isaac is and incredible little guy. He truly has learned to go with the flow. He is so patient with me and Eric and so loving. He knows just the right times to be perfectly cuddly and perfectly cute and funny. There are many times where he's about the only things that pulls us through.

His Loves: Isaac looooves books and being read to. He totally gets it too. I'll say, "Isaac go get mommy and book" and he'll go right to the basket and bring me on. Then he will back it up to sit on my lap. I love it. He loves to dance and listen to music. He will even dance to our ring tones! He loves to be sung to and his favorites are: Snuggle puppy (a book/song), Itsy bitsy spider (he pinches his fingers together and it is SO cute), and a alphabet song singing about the long vowel sounds. He walks around singing, "A-A-A, A-A-A." He still loooooves his squeezies (baby food in a squeeze pouch) and know the cupboard I keep them in, goes to it, tries to open it (child locked) and says, "mmmm" or "num-num!" When I give him one he walks straight to the first step going upstairs, the wood one, backs it up, sits down then kicks his legs with excitement. I love this boy. He loves putting things in the trash for me and loves air vents and is mesmerized by the air coming out. He has discovered our central vacuum things in the wall and will open them and say, "HELLO!" Or he will open and close the flap and say "Ohhh!" He hasn't started putting things in them yet... fingers crossed. He loves the tub and loves to be outside, just like Atticus!! I let him push the garage door buttons and he LOVES it.

He's getting so big and so smart. We were at Costco the other day and I put butter in the front seat with him. He lifted it up and said, "heavy!" I didn't even know he know that word or what it meant! I was so proud of him and gave him a little cheer telling him how smart he was. I'm sure the Costco people were thinking, "Lady, you have GOT to get out more!" He can "count" 1-2-3 and keeps his pointer finger up while doing it! He can point to his eyes- ears- nose- teeth- toes- and kisses to show his lips.

He is talking up a storm and tries to copy anything and everything you say and does a dang good job. He may not get the right letter sound put gets the correct "sing-song" sound (I'm pretty sure that's not a word but you get it)!  These are just a few my favorite words he is saying...
~ All animal sounds (kitty is my favorite, he'll growl furosioulsy for the tiger then 'meow' so sweetly)
~ "Isaac, what does Darth Vader say?... Uh-Ah" It's AWESOME.
~ "Have daay!" (translation... have a good day)
~Wawa for water
~ hot dog, eat, Jesus, love you, Grandma, PopPop, he attempts almost all the Aunts and Uncles and actually does really well.
~ He's really good at saying "no!"
~ Very dramatically says, "Oh No!"
~ "Boo" He loves to scare us.

Isaac is exactly what we need to help us get through this. Things are still pretty emotional and hard around here but we are surviving. Sometimes by just a thread but surviving non the less.

I cannot tell you how much it meant to me to read all of your comments. To know that although Atticus is gone, you still care about Eric Isaac and me. That you are still praying for us and thinking of us. A few of you have written about our family being a strength for your family and I just wanted to let you all know that YOUR families have been and continue to be a HUGE strength to my family.

Thank you, xoxo

I love that sweet Issac is there to bring smiles to your faces!! :)

I pray for your family everyday, but just this morning I was praying very intently for you all and just asking God to give you strength to get out of bed each day because honestly, I truly do not know how you do it. I give you SO much credit and adoration for putting one foot in front of the other each day. I pray for peace for your hearts, each day. I'm sure Atticus is smiling down, so proud of you both!!! :)

Love and prayers from a complete stranger who will forever be touched by Atticus! :)

You can tell he was born with a kind and sweet spirit, much like your little Atticus. Please continue to blog as your heart desires. There will always be people reading it. Your family is one I'll never forget.

My dad has a tradition of giving each of his grand-children an old baseball card from his collection. Cate has Cal Ripken Jr's rookie card. Lindley has a '59 Don Drysdale. Kenna has a '59 Sandy Koufax. He gave me for the baby-to-be in Spetember, a '58 Warren Spahn of Milwaukee Brave's. I forgot it was still in my coat pocket when I went to church last week. I pulled it out and showed Isaac and I distincly remember him saying, "homerun!" That would be my favorite word from Isaac.

Great to see an update on darling Mr. Issac. He is a little light. So proud of you. I just love you. Leah told me you were in Utah... I really wanted to go to lunch or something while you were in here, but I knew you needed family time. Next time. Or maybe in Texas... I am hoping it won't be too much longer till I go back!

Love and prayers.

So I don't know if you remember me very well from law school days and we graduated and moved soon after sweet Atticus was born but I wanted to share 2 things that I have always thought were amazing about him- even though I only knew him for a few months.
First, that kid was born with some crazy hair! I loved it. People couldn't pass him without wanting to rub a hand over that thick, orange hair. Amazing!
The second thing is that from the second he was born, that kid was LOVED! Every time I saw either of you with him you could just see how much you loved and adored him. I'd always say to myself, Man that is one loved baby! It was amazing!!
It's just so clear that there's a reason you are his parents because no one could have loved him more than the two of you.
