Radiation Day 16

Friday February 16th AMAZING does not even begin to touch it! Today was, there really is no word for it... Fantastic? Incredible? A miracle? One of the best days of my life? Yes to all of those and more. Treatment went fine. No oral airway needed today. He is waking up so much better. Not nearly as feisty and upset. Just hungry and ready to go. So that's what we do. As soon as we get the a-ok we are out the door. In the car he ate.... PB sandwich, strawberries, granola bar, pirates booty, pretzels w/cheese. On our way home we had our Friday stop at McyD's and he ate an Egg McMuffin meal!! Believe it or not his appetite is actually decreasing a bit. We decided to put the boys in the wagon and go for a walk. We get shoes on. I opened the garage door but forgot the water bottle so I went back inside, when I hear Atticus' tricycle bell ring. I ran back out to the garage and low and behold. ATTICUS IS RIDING HIS TRICYCLE! Seriously, words could not express my excitement. He was doing it! He was RIDING HIS BIKE! I have not seen him do that in at least 6 weeks. So we hit the road and went for the best walk/bike ride of our lives! He took a little break, got off his bike, are you ready for it? HE RAN. LIKE RAN!!!! I completely broke down. Happy tears of course. Miracles happen. Our Miracles are happening. Our Father in Heaven loves us and is hearing all our prayers. Atticus was more himself today than he has been in a very long time! Back at the house, to my surprise again, he wanted to whip out the tennis racket. And HIT THE BALL! Then he wanted to get out the soccer net. And KICKED THE BALL! It was amazing. My cheeks hurt from smiling to big. I was seriously busting with happiness. It was incredible to see Atticus do what he does best: sports. He loves them. Before all this, weather permitting, as soon as Daddy got home from work, the two of them would go outside and hit a few balls (baseballs or tennis balls) while I finished up dinner. He and I would play various sports all day long. Today was a BIG DEAL. A BIG BIG DEAL. He took a little spill while running after the soccer ball and I was afraid that was going to be it. But once I calmed him down, he said, "I want to move the soccer game to the grass!" So that's exactly what we did. The soccer game moved to the back yard and our fun continued. I was so proud of him. Thank you for praying for us! Prayers are answered. Today was proof of that! RIDING HIS BIKE... (& RUNNING)

I want to introduce myself to you since I read your blog daily now. My name is Robin and I live in Logan UT. I have a 22 year old daughter who is a premed/biology major at Utah State. She is planning a career in pediatric Nuro oncology. She stumbled across your blog and follows it daily. She told me the other day she has spent many many hours researching your sons condition. The other night she had a fever and cough and did not feel like doing her homework. She said she thought about your son and it reminded her that there would unfortunately be other children like your son, who needed her to be doing her HW so someday she could help them. She printed off a pic of your son and has it inside of her binder..she looks at it throughout her day and reminds herself that children just like him are why she works so hard. You are in our prayers and KNOW miracles are in store for you. Stay strong, you are amazing.

My name is Amanda. I live in Holladay Utah. I heard your families' story from the Babycenter Nov 2009 birth club (a friend of yours is a member and keeps us updated on Atticus). I have been following your blog and love that you and Atticus had a fabulous day! Heavenly Father loves you, Atticus and everyone in your family. I can't fathom how hard this all is but always remember that this is all in his (Heavenly Father) control. I will keep the prayers coming as they are totally being answered! Take Care of yourself as hard as it is during this, you have to be healthy and strong for YOU!
