Sleep... or lack of.

It's 5am and Atticus has yet to sleep a solid hour. In fact, he has yet to sleep a solid hour since we have been home from the hospital (one week ago).. I take that back. ONCE he slept 3 consecutive hours. Once. He is waking up every 15-30 minutes. Crying, yelling, and often times soaked in sweat. His dreams are so intense. So real. So upsetting to him. He is so exhausted. We all are. The poor guy will be falling asleep while eating lunch or readings stories or playing, so ill put him down for a nap, only for him to wake up 20-30 minutes later. An hour if Im lucky. Please pray for us, but especially Atticus, to start sleeping. His poor little body is really struggling with the steroids. Im so worried that without good sleep his radiation and chemo will not go as well. His body needs a break. His first round of radiation is in exactly 3 hours! Wish us luck.

Love, Cindy

Cindy,
Bless his little heart. Bless all your hearts. We are still praying multiple times a day for that darling little boy and for your family... We will now be praying that he can sleep. There is power in prayer. My heart and thoughts are with you today.

Love,
Angie (I feel dumb always writing Leah's sister, but I know other Angie's comment here too!)

Cindy-

Here is a blog of sweet Sadie Huish she also fought DIPG. You may find comfort contacting her incredible parents. They know what you are going through and may be able to give comfort and help through your experience. We will pray for you and your sweet little boy.

Cindy,

How terribly heartbreaking to hear that he is having such terrible dreams, and that he's just so worn out. We will pray for exactly that! Good luck with the radiation and everything else!

Hello Cindy! I don't know you but Jene Hansen is one of my best friends and I found your story because of her. I put Atticus's name on the prayer roll at the Washington DC temple today. I haven't stopped thinking of your family. I hope all the prayers being said on your behalf will be literally tangible. And that peace and rest will come to your home.

Sending love from Virginia....

Oh Mr. and and Mrs. Hansen......my name is Michael Binns and I am home tonight with our children while my wife is out to dinner with some friends from the Copperfield Ward here in Houston, TX. At the end of '06 our daughter Hannah was diagnosed with DIPG and over a very short period of time, we became aware of more families than we thought possible who were working through the DIPG mess. It has been some time since checking the websites of some of these families, so tonight sitting in the chair with things relatively quiet at home, I turned on the computer to see how everyone was doing. The Huish website mentioned a family in Texas.....what part of Texas was the question in my mind.....wow, Richardson, TX. I travel to DFW every week for work and from time to time, find myself out in Richardson. Anyway, just a note tonight to pass along and wish you all very well. There may be moments that the following statement may be impossible to believe, but know that the love, compassion and concern exhibited by others will always be greater than the difficult and trying times you have experienced and will experience as you learn to cope with DIPG. The good will always be greater than the bad! The heavens are close and the love of others abounds all around. May you all enjoy the remainder of the weekend and here is to "easy" days of radiation and chemotherapy! Your loyal DIPG brother, Mike. 281-785-7957 cell, mbinns7_5@swbell.net
