WELCOME HOME ATTICUS.. (thanks again friends!)
Grandma and Aunty Stacie setting up Atticus' new room!
Handsome boy...
Family play time...
THIS little chubber has been AMAZING! We truly believe that Heavenly Father gave us Isaac, a calm, happy, easy going, cute as can be baby to help Eric and I get through this trial. You can't help but smile when you see this roll of chub! The hardest part for him has been the nursing bit. With my stress level being so high and me not able to nurse at all some days while at the hospital, I have lost all my milk. He is pretty sad about that. We tried forumla but he won't have anything to do with it. Yesterday we tried Pediasure and he kind of liked it. Our fingers are crossed. Thank goodness he is almost one year. ONE YEAR.
He has been army crawling for 3 weeks now! Such a big boy!!
His favorite toys are golf clubs...
Light saber (sp?)...
...And the Ball Popper Elephant. He loves the air to blow on him!
Atticus gets "BRAVE" points every time he takes his medicine well. He got enough points to pick out a racer. So he and daddy went to target. While there he told Eric that he wanted to pick out a toy for me!
This is what awesome toy I got... the coolest BARBIE ever! Eric tried to convince him a to pick out a cheaper Hello Kitty toy, but Atticus was set on picking out a barbie. It was the sweetest thing. She will be the most loved barbie in the entire universe. Forever.
Thursday January 19th was a beautiful day. So after his dr. appointments and naptime. We took him to the park. As soon as we turned in to the parking lot, my heart started racing and I wanted to turn around. It was packed. I just said a little prayer that everything would go ok.
He did great. It was super hard on the heart. Watching him watch the other kids, but he did great. Eric went on the play ground with him (Atticus didn't last long), I pushed him on the swings for a bit, then we decided to check out the Tennis Courts to see any balls were left. Thank heaven, Daddy found one so we could play catch for a bit. It was really hard. I can only imagine how he must of felt. Eric and I left with tears fighting back a break down. We are just so proud of our little boy. He is being so strong and so accepting of his challenges.
Atticus never ceases to amaze us. He is so strong. His eyes have been really bothering him the last day or so. He'll say things like, "Ugh! I just don't know why my eyes can't see very good." Or, "Im so frustrated, my eye keeps crying." Or, "I always can't figure out what's wrong with my eyes." He had a heacache the other day but hasn't complained of one since. We have noticed he is having a hard time chewing. Since the right side of his face isn't responsive he ends up biting his right cheek, which is really upsetting to him. Im still trying to figure out how I can make that one better. For now its just, "Let's take smaller bites and chew slower." He did tell me other day, "Mom, Im really wiggly today" but other than that hasn't talked about his balance much. He can't get rid of the diarrhea and his tummy is still bothering him. Its very round and hard majority of the time. I tried to convince him to use a heating pad but he wasn't a big fan of that idea. 3:00-3:30 A.M. seems to be the time when he is hungry. Last night he wanted an egg on toast and I just got done giving him yogurt and Macaroni. He will call me through the monitor and tell me, "Grrr. My tummy wants macaroni." Thankfully he goes back to sleep. Mommy and Daddy are his favorite people right now, and we don't mind a bit. He is being so sweet to us. Telling us we're his favorites and that he loves us. This morning he told me, "I love you up to the stars and highest buildings." If he only knew how much we love him!

Hey Hansen family...
We learned of your blog through some good friends of ours, the Stuarts. We are so sorry. Your family is too cute, and Atticus sounds like such a special boy. These kids are amazing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. If there is ever anything we can do for you please don't hesitate to let us know.

Praying for Atticus and your family. What a strong little guy!! He is amazing and so is your family. I pray the Lord keeps him feeling ok through all of his treatments. He is so cute and so is your little chunkster!! I work for Rob's dad and I continue to ask for prayers for Rob and now Atticus. It's so awesome your group of friends are so supportive of each other. It seems Mercedi was so supported by her friends and family and it was so impressive. I pray for you and your family to receive the same awesome support to get through this emotional time. I found your blog through a friend of a friend. Lots of prayers are being said for Atticus and your family from here in Southern California. He's blessed to have such strong parents.
Cindy,
You don't know me...(Bet you're hearing that a lot lately!) found your blog from a friend's fb post. I am in Arizona, pediatric nurse and mom of 4 & Primary pres :) Can't get my mind off your Atticus. I have had the thought to send you some info on some complementary treatment for his balance and digestive issues (even found your address on whitepages) but don't want you to think I'm crazy :)
So I'm writing in hopes that you may read it and want to call me if you're up for chatting a bit.
Sincerely and sending my prayers,
Sarah 480-332-6484
