Playa Del Carmen

..MEXICO..
Amazing. Amazing Amazing.
May 1st - 5th

Wednesday May 1st:

Grandma Lori flew in late Tuesday night to stay with Isaac. Before we headed to the airport, we all met up with Brett and Bethy (who flew in from Utah and had a layover so we could fly to Mexico together) and hit up the Stockyards!

Grandma Lori... She and Isaac had so much fun while we were away. She said that he would knock on the wall shared by their bedrooms in the morning to wake her up!!

Our Mexico Amigo's!

After our yummy lunch and The Love Shack, we said our goodbyes and headed to the airport! Adios Texas. Vacation from our troubles here we come.

*****

My very first stamp in my passport! I was so excited. The guy working behind the counter, in broken English said, "You're very excited!" then stamped Eric's and said, "You're not." I busted up! That's right buddy, I carry enough enthusiasm for us both!!

Our Hotel... "Riu Palace Mexico" I felt like the rich and the famous, but I'm sure my perma-grin gave me away! Once you checked and they were getting your keys, an employee handed us some fresh mango smoothie!

The view from the Lobby..
Just paste those pools was the OCEAN!!

The Resort had a buffet, or you could make reservations at the specialty restaurants. We went to two, Miyagi's and Guacamole Steak House. Both very yummy. The picture is just past where the "Don Julin" Buffet was.

Our very modern way too cool room!

Atticus loved Hotel soap. Seeing these brought a tear or two then a smile and I tucked those two little soap bars in my suitcase to take home.

Thursday May 2nd:

Tulum.. We got a cultural experience going through the city and loved it! Bethany was cracking me up. Any time a person on the street would say something or ask a question, she would just giggle, which would then make me giggle! We sure love these two and have way too much fun with them!

These humungo-bungo lizards were everywhere.

Orange flowers reminding me of Atticus.

The amazing beach a staircase away from the ruins.

The water was amazing. We were so tempted to swim in our clothes.
Eric being the jokester he is said, "Honey stand right there so I can get a picture..."

... this came. I should have known!!

Back to the hotel, and on the beach. They brought around trays of non-alcoholic pina-colada's and Bahama mamma's! And we drank a million! The employees were all floored when we told them we didn't drink alcohol. Ever! We gave them a good laugh.

The night life was mainly for drinkers so Brett bought some cards and we ordered different non-alcoholic drinks, played cards and talked each night.

Friday May 3rd:

Beach Day. The ENTIRE day. Friday was probably the best beach day I have ever had in my life. The water was absolutely post card perfect. We swam. We read our books. We napped. Got massages. Kayaked. Ate TONS of pineapple. And did all over again!!

Couples massage on the beach. I think the ocean may be the most relaxing sound in the world.

Cleaned up and ready for dinner.

Saturday May 4th:

Snorkeling. We totally lucked out with our tour. We bought the package off a street vendor and ended up with the coolest guide ever. It ended up just being us four and our guide, Gabriel, from Betina Tours, took tons of pics for us with his underwater camera.... There are tons of pictures.  We had such an incredible time.

Eric.. Bethy.. Me..
..Brett..
Crazy pictures huh?! We were so excited.
Snorkeling in the caves! It was so so cool.

..Me and Eric..

..Crazy Bethy-Girl..
..Brett..

I can't remember the name of this beach but after the caves we went here to snorkel with Sea Turtles.
..Brett and Bethy..
..Me and Eric..
"Coral Fish"

Our first turtle sighting.
Just a little guy!

2nd sighting..

You could hear him chomping on the grass. It was really cool.

...For Atticus..
You're always on our mind sweet boy.

3rd sighting.
Eric being brave..

Brett being brave..

Me being brave..

..Puffer Fish..
The incredible beach..

I love this picture of us!! Such nerds we are!

Thanks to our amazing tour guide Gabriel!!

Back from snorkeling, cleaned up and ready to eat!

After dinner cards and "drinks"

Eric and I loved the Bahama Mamma's, Bethany loved the Moheto (sp?)!

Sunday May 5th: Adios Playa Del Carmen. We will miss you and will most definitely be coming back!! We would have loved another day, well I would have loved one more day, the others could have stayed longer, but I was missing my Isaac and ready to get back to him.

It was an AMAZING vacation. The most fun on the beach I have ever had. It was fun, relaxing, and romantic. It was exactly what we needed. A vacation from our troubles...

Great views and great company!! Hooray for Mexico.

What an amazing resort--looks like you guys had an incredible time!! I'd LOVE to go there sometime, but I'm wondering how much it cost. Would you mind emailing me the specifics? I just might surprise my hubby for his 40th bday.

Cindy! I am SO glad you guys were able to do this!! Biff and I had a little getaway that weekend, too. It made me realize how rarely we're able to actually give each other 100% of our attention. SUCH a needed break! Yours looked amazing.

And ps, those hotel soaps were my favorite souvenirs to get from my parents' trips away! :)
