Sheriffs Banquet...

The "Red Carpet"

It was so pretty and much bigger than I had expected.

The Qualls, Fishs, and Matt Hansen were able to be with us.

Eric and I with Sergeant Jacks and his sweet wife Jamie

The night was beautiful.  It was pretty cool to be surrounded by people who dedicate their lives to others safety. We are so grateful for all that Chief Wilson and Sergeant Jacks  have done and continue to do for our family. And for allowing us to be a part of this night.

Atticus' police adventure is a particularly tender one for us. Atticus LOVED it and was so excited to be in a police "speeder." But he was so bad at that point it's hard on our hearts.

They played a slide show with pictures of Atticus in his police uniform with a few clips from the actual police video. When it started, I panicked, started to hyperventilate, then turned to Eric and said, "I can't do this. I don't think I can do this."

I've only watched the video once. Eric hasn't watched it at all. So seeing the pictures and hearing his voice was really hard.  We fell a part. As always, my better half, took my hand and with tears in his eyes said, "Lets stay strong for Atticus and honor Sergeant Jacks."

We stood with Sergeant Jacks crying as we watched the video our hearts aching. It's still is so surreal. No way did this happen. No way is he gone. Stuff like this doesn't happen in real life. The video was to Sarah McLachlan's, "I will remember you," and as the song ended, the video ended with Atticus' dates on a black screen and Atticus' saying, "Im home."

 "Atticus Award"
"This award goes to the employee who emulates our Jr. Deputy Atticus Eric Hansen's characteristics of love, perseverance, strength, and courage while faced with adversity.

Sergent Jacks (28 years of service) and Detention Service Manager Kelvin Fowler each received an award. Our family was also given an award in memory of Atticus.

It was a very humbling night. We are so grateful for the officers who have taken our family under their wing. So grateful for dear friends who were able to support us. And of course, so grateful for our incredible son.
WE LOVE YOU ATTICUS!!!

(PS... 13 wks prego)
