His teacher Mrs. Gavaghan- she is absolutely darling with the kids.
Play Dough fun
Here's the run down (Sorry fam. I hate long posts but I have to put it all in here)...
If you don't want the details the quick version is this 1st day: BAD 2nd day: GOOD
Day 1: He was excited all morning long and felt like such a big boy going to pre-school. When we got to his classroom, he went right in- no hesitation. None. Greeted Mrs. Gavaghan and went straight to the play dough station. When I told him it was time for me to go, he puckered his lips gave me two kisses and said, "Bye mom." (To say that I was completely SHOCKED would be a huge understatement. We are talking about the kid that won't even let me leave him in nursery so I can use the restroom). At that, I started tearing up, so I quickly left. With mixed emotions of "Im so proud of him" and "I can't believe he didn't even care?" I totally cried when I got in the car (Im such a baby).
When I went to pick him up (I was maybe ten minutes early- super anxious) Mrs. G and all the kids were singing and doing the actions to "head shoulders, knees and toes" when I realized I couldn't see Atticus. That's because he was sitting down. Crying. And from the looks of it, had been for awhile. My heart sank. My poor little guy. As soon as he saw me it was like he couldn't get to me fast enough. Mrs. G hurried to open the door but because she had all the other kids still she quickly said.. "He was Great the first 15 minutes then cried on and off the entire time. " I must have had the look of "poor atticus" or "I knew this would happen" or "poor Mrs. Gavaghan" because she quickly said, "Don't panic Mom, for a first time away from mom... not too bad. Bring him back!"
I gave Atticus the biggest hug and excitedly asked how he likes preschool and his new friends. This was his responce (in a very stern- I mean business, sort of way) I DO NOT like preschool and I DO NOT like my new friends! So the first day was a bust!
Day 2: (Eric and I had been pumping it up since the first day catastrophe- big time) Getting ready for the day he whined/cried twice about not wanting to go, and as I suspected I dropped him off kicking and screaming. He was in my arms in a huge crying spell when I asked Mrs. G what I should do, She said, "hand him to me, he'll be just fine." So I did. Turned the corner and listened. He cried for maybe 1 min more than whimpered a minute then I heard him talking to Mrs.G and that's when I decided it was okay for me to leave. Again, I went to my car and cried. It's not that Atticus has to go to preschool, I realize he is still young, but my little Atti-bug has some big time mom issues so we thought it would help him realize that life goes on and can actually be fun even when mom's not right there. ANYWAY... I kept my self super busy the entire morning.
When I went to pick him up, they were on the playground and to my surprise- he wasn't crying. I hid and watched them walk back to class- no crying. We were both so excited to see each other. Mrs. Gavaghan said he did GREAT. "Much MUCH better than Wednesday!" That he participated, played, and talked up a storm. That he was happy 90% of the time. He was so excited to show me his "beautiful picture." So... YAHOO! HOORAY! HE DID IT! I am so excited for him. I know he will absolutely love it.
Trick-or-Treat sneak peak...
Atticus has wanted to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween for a long time. I thought there would probably be a million this year because of the new movie and wanted to get his costume before they sold out. HE LOVES IT. I could not get him to take it off for the first two days and every morning he askes me where his favorite buzz costume is!
The wings have flashing lights.. He turns his backside towards Zurg or other "bad guy" then sticks his booty out to blast 'em while the lights are flashing! He cracks me up.
Crocheting a blanket for brother... this was supposed to be for Atticus but I picked too hard a pattern and gave up. Maybe MAYBE baby 2 will get it!
